Thank you so very much for your time and interest in sharing your experiences with our physical therapy students. Several of the students shared that it was their best class of the term. I could tell fro their questions and interest that they were really touched by your presentation and that you have impacted how they will develop as clinicians and deliver care to their future patients.  

The University of St. Augustine is a graduate school dedicated to the education and training of physical and occupational therapists. The University recently had the opportunity to host a special presentation by Harold and Joshua Lawrence regarding Joshua's accident as a teenager, his long road of rehabilitation, and vision held by Harold and Joshua that Joshua will one day walk and talk on his own. I had the great fortune to attend the presentation with some of our students and faculty, and like may others in attendance, I was moved beyond words by the Lawrence family's story, faith, and courage. Our students benefited greatly from hearing firsthand of the trails and tribulations to fight for rehabilitation and care, a father's commitment to learning as much as possible about his son's needs to the point where he can facilitate daily in the rehabilitation, and the Lawrence family's shared passion and commitment to tell Joshua's story to groups all over the United States.  

I have been in youth counseling for 6 years and in that time I have found many ways to truly connect with young people. I have discovered that teenagers respond greatly to seeing, not just hearing. It is very possible for me to share some stories about wise choices and I believe that it can be effective. But on the day that Harold and Joshua came and spoke to our youth, the effect will be forever immeasurable. Seeing with their own eyes the effects that come from bad choices is still being talked about today. We were truly blessed to have Harold and Joshua come and share with us and I believe that their message is one that must be heard.  

I can’t thank you enough for your willingness to help our team change our youth culture for the better! You are such an impactful team with the teens, I know that this side of heaven, you will not know the number of lives you have touched and decisions you have positively help teens make about drugs and alcohol….Thanks for changing lives and bringing truth to our youth.  

I think the ministry you have will touch the nations of the world and cause young and old to think about the repercussions they can have for doing wrongful things. What you’re doing with “Thru the Roof Ministries” is remarkable, because I have never seen young people respond to the gospel like they did on that night. I mean just to see that many youth come up and give their lives to the lord without a struggle and to see them bring cigarettes and all their problems to the altar was just great.  

What happened to Joshua really made me think. -- Awesome! Enjoyed Joshua. Makes me appreciate life more. -- I thought it was great! Joshua really touched me? -- It was awesome!Joshua was the coolest! Rock on! -- The story of Joshua made me realize what could happen if you make the wrong decision. Joshua's story was very touching, and you never get to see the people you just hear about them.When you see them it makes you wake up to reality. This program was awesome. -- OMG! This program made me not want to do drugs. Joshua made me make my decision. Tell him thank you and that his purpose in this would means a lot. -- Awesome program! Very inspirational. Joshua inspired me very much to do the right thing!Tell him thank you and that we love him.

I am a small group leader for a group of 9th grade girls at Christ Church. I was moved greatly by your testimony and your willingness to share it. Your testimony has greatly impacted many people. It causes us to think about our choices and how our choices affect other people. It also shows how God can take a bad situation and a bad choice and use it for His glory and good.  

God really used you two in a mighty way to challenge the hearts of both the students and their parents. The tough life situations that have taken place in both of your lives are being used in an incredible way by God because of your courageous decisions to not give up, to trust in God, and to preach the Word….We’ve heard countless thank you’s from students, parents, and sponsors regarding the practical and powerful challenge that you men brought to our youth ministry.

It always amazes me to see God take such a tragic event and turn it around for His Glory. Your ministry is truly “Thru the Roof”.

Your ministry to our teenagers was simply God ordained. It was obvious from the beginning that God was using you and Joshua (Brian) to communicate the message of God’s love, justice, and mercy to our students. Thank you for sharing your story with us. God took a story that looked like disaster and turned it into something beautiful and powerful. We will never know the extent of the impact your story and His message had on our students this side of heaven, but I know that God and all of heaven took notice of the hearts that were softened.
